Welcome
to John's Old Car and Truck Ads I
was fortunate enough to come across a large collection of old ads for cars,
trucks and accessories from the very beginning to around 1970. Like
many of my pictures these were posted on alt.binaries.pictures.autos. Considering
how successful "John's Old Car and Truck Pictures" has been I
decided to share these old ads in much the same way. I
have always enjoyed reading old ads on cars, car accessories or most anything
else. Besides learning of the equipment that was available years ago we
also got a
feeling for how society thought at that time. Truth in advertising was
not heard
of yet and most anything could and was said about a product. Safety
was becoming an issue especially in tires and many scare tactics were used. Above
all else we had to protect our women and children from the evils of the motor
car. Sex was also started to be used in advertising but in a very low key
suggestive way. Ethyl, the girl with the gasoline had some interesting
lines. "Anything
runs better with Ethyl" or " Just ask for Ethyl, I add snap to any car" And
how could we drive anywhere without American Chains?? Just
recently I received a large number from Leif Ericksson from Sweden of
the Chrysler Airflow, Kaiser-Frazer and Henry J's. The
Henry J page was made possible because of these new ads. I
hope you enjoy them. Like
on all my web pages I invite any one to submit an old ad that can be
added to these pages. Please use the e mail link below. Just
click on one of the ad buttons shown below and go to that page
As with any of my pages
at John's Old car and Truck Pictures you are invited to submit any old
car ad that you may have. I will add as many of these to the pages as I
